The Mandarin Learning Center (MLC) collects personal information from our clients and students directly, through our services and interactions, and from third parties. With this privacy policy, we want to ensure there is a clear understanding of how the information you provide to us is collected and used.
1. INFORMATION THE MLC COLLECTS
1.1 INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE THROUGH ENROLLMENT AS A STUDENT
Through our application and enrollment process, requests for information online, and in-person requests for information or services, the MLC collects and records the following information:
First names, middle names, last names, physical and mailing addresses, dates of birth, email addresses, phone numbers, and a student’s purpose for learning Mandarin Chinese. The MLC also collects information from currently enrolled students pertaining to gains and accomplishments they achieve while being a MLC student and keeps a record of student academic study records containing information on subject matter learned and studied.
1.2 JOB AND CAREER APPLICATION INFORMATION
If you are applying for a job or career with the Mandarin Learning Center, we will collect and store information you provide to us through your resume or application process including: first names, last names, your date of birth, employment history, references, email addresses, phone numbers, and a physical address. We may also collect social security numbers, information requested on an IRS issued W4 form, information requested on an IRS issued I9 form, as well as consent in the form of a signature, and information needed to identify and perform necessary background checks.
1.3 SOCIAL MEDIA AND THIRD PARTY SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS
The MLC may collect information you provide to us through the use of social media platforms such as messenger apps, postings, or direct messages. This information is used to update information that is previously recorded during the application process or contact information recorded for inquiries.
The MLC may receive or see information you provide to third party social media platforms. We do not store or record information acquired through third party social media platforms except as used in the paragraph above.
The MLC is not responsible for the privacy practices of any platforms, applications, or websites not controlled by the MLC. We recommend you review the privacy policies of any website, application, or platform you use outside of our services before providing any information to or through them.
1.4 OUR WEBSITE
Our website and login portal may ask clients for user names and passwords. Our website may store cookies to identify returning traffic. The MLC does not store information or have access to credit card information obtained by third party sources.
The MLC requires an adult to register any child under the age of 13. The information provided by this responsible adult is subject to the same privacy rules as above regarding collecting the information, and follows the same rules below on how the information is used.
1.5 AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED INFORMATION
Through our website and when using the Internet, some information is automatically collected. To ensure transparency, the following types of information may be collected when you apply for our services or visit us online:
Previously accessed web pages, access times, quantity of data transferred, browser and operating system versions, device IDs, previous visited pages (if our website is accessed via a link), your IP address, your Session ID, and any cookies used to track you over the Internet.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
2.1 Information we obtain during our application and enrollment process, requests for information online, and in-person requests: Used to keep in contact, promote current and new services, and to provide information about future events and activities. This promotion is through email or physical direct mailings.
2.2 Information we collect from enrolled students pertaining to gains and accomplishments: May be used to promote our school and its goal toward educating students in Mandarin. This promotion is through our social media channels, website, word of mouth, email, or flyers and publications. We only release first names and last initials of students to protect privacy. Only with express written consent of parents or guardians will the MLC publish additional info.
2.3 Information we collect through job and career applications: Used solely to provide and collect the legal information needed to allow for employment in the US.
2.4 In addition, your information may be used to:

3.0 CCPA PRIVACY AND DATA RIGHTS
The MLC follows all CCPA rights and guidelines, and at any time you may opt out of third-party data sales. (The MLC does not sell information to third parties, and please refer above to the information on how the MLC collects and uses your information). You have the right to be informed of data collection, you have the right to have collected data disclosed, you have the right to have collected data deleted, and you have the right to equal services and prices.

The MLC is committed to upholding principles and rules in the GDPR and your data privacy. In accordance with these principles, we work to ensure:
Transparency with the use of data, fair and lawful data processing, accurate data, removal of data when it is no longer necessary, and privacy of data collected.
5.0 UPDATING OUR PRIVACY POLICY
If changes are made to the way your data is used, collected, stored, sold, etc., we will update our Privacy Policy and notify via email or direct mailing that it has changed.
